Data Center Hoses

Data center hoses are designed for the distribution of coolant in Direct-to-Chip liquid cooling systems for servers, used where air cooling is no longer sufficient – from the coolant supply between the building’s distribution system and the server rack to the cold plate on the chip (CPU/GPU).

The hoses are manufactured from peroxide-cured EPDM, which reduces the risk of media contamination, with either braided textile or spiral wire reinforcement, and a flame-resistant outer cover rated UL 94 HB or UL 94 V-0. Hose diameter decreases progressively through the system, from the coolant source to the chip. Key selection parameters include the hose’s position in the system (supply line, in-rack distribution, or direct chip connection), coolant compatibility, working pressure, and temperature range.

The Complete Continental Industrial Hose Range

Continental hoses – multiple product lines together

The Continental industrial hose portfolio comprises three independent product lines. Two of them focus primarily on rubber hoses and are geographically referred to as EMEA and AMERICAS. The third pillar is the thermoplastic hose range, formerly known under the Merlett brand.

The full current range, including detailed product descriptions and individual data sheets, is available through the online hose finders:

We supply products from all three product lines listed above.

Example Hose Types

The data center liquid cooling hose range currently covers single-phase solutions (without a phase change of the coolant).

Typical Applications

This solution is used for high-performance servers and computing equipment (AI, HPC) in hyperscale data centers and AI factories, when air cooling is insufficient to remove heat from extremely high-load chips. Given the enclosed nature of the system and its operating conditions, the hoses are designed to minimize media contamination while also meeting demanding fire-safety requirements.

The hoses carry the coolant throughout the entire data center – from the source, through the chiller, to the Coolant Distribution Unit (CDU), and onward into the server racks. Within the rack, the hoses then distribute coolant between the manifold and the individual server blades, inside which the smallest hoses in the system deliver coolant to the cold plates fitted on the chips (CPU/GPU).
